It has been several years since ChatGPT and other generative AI models have sprouted up and become a part of many people’s everyday lives. Their capabilities and uses have greatly evolved, to the point that AI-written articles nearly outnumber human-written articles on the internet. by “AI-powered growth agency” Graphite, who analyzed nearly 55,000 English-language articles published between January 2020 and March 2026. Copyleaks was selected as one of the used in the study to verify whether content was written by humans or AI. The overall results show that there is currently a 50-50 split between human-written and AI-written articles on the internet. Other key findings from the report include: Within one year of ChatGPT’s launch in November 2022, AI-generated articles accounted for 35.9% of newly-published content. By 2024, that number increased to 48%. Since early 2025, the percentage has instead of continuing to increase.
